According to a recent article from Affectiva, a team of scientists at the Thrill Laboratory in UK, transformed a London cinema into an exciting social experiment, to see how the emotion of fear affected the human body!
The audience’s fear factor was tested while watching, “Sinister” – a horror movie from the same producers of “The Paranormal Activity” and “Insidious”.
By using the Q Sensor, in combination with other technologies, the team was able to measure skin temperature, heart rate, and skin sweat levels of the viewers.
So just how scary is this movie?
- On average, those tested were in a state of fear for 41% of Sinister
- Even the toughest participant was petrified for 34% of the film (no matter what he might claim)
- Heart rates peaked to a whopping 177 bpm above the norm, similar to the rates measured on some of the world’s most intense roller coasters – this film is guarantee to get your heart racing
